Prenatal yoga: moving safely through each trimester

Pregnancy changes your centre of gravity, your ligaments and your breath, so the practice changes with it. Here is roughly how we adapt, trimester by trimester.

First trimester

Often the most tiring. We keep things gentle and skip deep twists.

Second trimester

Usually the strongest stretch. Standing work, hip openers and side-lying rest.

Third trimester

Shorter holds, more props, and breathing you can carry into labour.
