Belts give every student a clear goal and a way to see their progress. Here is how our grading system works.

Seven belts, one path

Students progress through white, yellow, orange, green, blue, brown and black. Each belt adds new techniques, combinations and forms.

When you test

You test when your coach sees you are ready, usually every three to six months. Attendance, technique and attitude all count.

The black belt mindset

A black belt is not the end of training. It means you have mastered the fundamentals and are ready to really start learning.
