A hot towel shave is not a faster way to shave. It is a better one, and it takes around forty minutes for good reason.
Step one: heat
Two hot towels in a row soften the beard and open the skin. This is the step that makes everything after it comfortable.
Step two: oil and lather
Pre-shave oil gives the razor something to glide on. A warm lather, worked in with a brush, lifts each hair away from the skin.
Step three: the razor
The first pass follows the grain. A second pass, across the grain, gets the closeness a cartridge razor never will, without the irritation of going against it.
Step four: cool down
A cold towel closes the pores, then a balm calms the skin. Most clients leave with smoother skin than they arrived with.
Book one before a wedding, an interview or simply a long week. You will understand why the ritual has lasted a hundred years.
