Hybrid events that work: 7 lessons from 80+ productions

Audience watching a stage presentation

A hybrid event is not a livestream of an in-person event. Remote viewers need their own host, their own pacing and a reason to stay. These are the lessons we learned the hard way.

Give the remote audience a host

A dedicated online host introduces sessions, reads questions and fills the gaps when the room is changing over.

Design for shorter attention spans

Keep online sessions under 30 minutes and break up long keynotes with polls and Q&A.

Measure both audiences separately

Track watch time, questions asked and follow-up actions for remote viewers, not just registrations.
