Most of what people call a breakdown is really a maintenance job that waited too long. A condenser face packed with dust and cottonwood cannot reject heat, and a starved evaporator ices up and then floods the ceiling below it.
A full service means lifting the filters, combing and washing the coil faces, flushing the condensate line, checking the float switch actually cuts out, and re-measuring the temperature split afterwards.
One visit each spring covers a domestic split. Shops, salons and anything running most of the year benefit from a second visit in autumn.
