Questions

The things people ask at reception

If yours is not here, call us. Reception can answer most clinical questions or put you through to an optometrist.

What to bring to your appointment

Five minutes of preparation saves a repeat visit. If you cannot find something, come anyway and we will work around it.

  1. Your current glasses, and any older pair you still wear
  2. Contact lenses in, plus the boxes or your last prescription
  3. Your vision plan card or policy number
  4. A list of medication you take, including eye drops
  5. Sunglasses, in case we need to dilate

Every two years for healthy adults under 40, and annually after that. If you wear contact lenses, have diabetes, are being monitored for glaucoma, or have a parent or sibling with an eye condition, we will usually recommend yearly. Children in myopia control are seen every six months.

Not always. Our wide-field retinal camera captures most of what we need without drops. If dilation is necessary, we will tell you when booking so you can arrange a lift or plan to wait about an hour before driving. Bring sunglasses either way.

We bill most major vision plans directly. Bring your card or policy number when you book and reception will verify your cover in advance, then tell you exactly what is left to pay. If your plan is not one we bill, we provide an itemised receipt you can claim against.

Yes. As long as it is under two years old and includes your pupillary distance, we will make up glasses from it. If the PD is missing we can measure it here in a couple of minutes at no charge.

Around three, or earlier if you notice an eye turning, persistent squinting, or a family history of lazy eye. Children do not need to read for us to test them — we use picture charts and objective measurements, and the appointment is built to be quick and unthreatening.

Single vision lenses in stock are usually ready within three working days from our own lab. Progressives, high prescriptions and specialist coatings take seven to ten days. We will call as soon as they arrive and fit them properly before you leave.
