About

Eighteen years on Maplewood Lane

Dr. Nadia Feld opened SWP Optometry in 2008 with one exam room, a second-hand phoropter and a waiting list of eleven people. The practice has grown to four optometrists, two dispensing opticians and a clinical assistant, but the thing she set out to build has not changed: an eye clinic that gives a proper appointment the time a proper appointment needs.

We are still independently owned. No chain sets our exam length, our frame targets or which lenses we are expected to recommend, and that independence is the whole reason the rest of this page can say what it says.

Part of the district, not just in it

We run free vision screening in eleven Springfield primary schools each autumn, and our myopia clinic grew directly out of what those screenings kept finding. We see three generations of some families. A good number of our patients were children here and now bring their own.

Below is what that looks like in practice — how we work, who you will see, and what people say after their appointment.

Who we are

An eye clinic that explains what it finds

Most people leave an eye exam with a prescription and very little else. We do it differently. Every scan we take goes up on the screen next to you, and your optometrist talks you through what healthy looks like, what has shifted since last year, and what deserves watching.

SWP Optometry is an independent practice, so nobody here is working to a frame quota or a fifteen-minute timer. We fit contact lenses, manage dry eye and glaucoma alongside your physician, track myopia in children, and build glasses that actually sit right.

  • 45-minute exams, never rushed
  • Same-day emergency eye visits
  • Records shared with your GP
  • Independent, family owned

Why choose us

Care built around one pair of eyes at a time

No two prescriptions arrive for the same reason. A screen-heavy job, a family history of glaucoma, a child squinting at the whiteboard — each one changes what we look for and how we treat it.

If we find something that needs a specialist, we refer you directly and send the imaging ahead. You will not be starting from scratch in someone else's waiting room.

Imaging you can see

Wide-field retinal photography and OCT scans, shown on screen and explained in plain language before you leave.

The same optometrist

You are booked with a named clinician who keeps your history, so year-on-year changes get noticed early.

Fitting done properly

Pupil height, frame tilt and lens centring measured in-store. Adjustments and repairs stay free for as long as you wear them.

Honest recommendations

If your current glasses are still right, we will tell you. Nobody here earns a bonus for selling you a second pair.

The team

The people who will be looking after you

Four optometrists, two dispensing opticians and a clinical assistant — and you will be booked with the same one each year.
