Renting your reception décor gives you a designer look without buying a single thing you will store for twenty years. Here is how we plan a reception from the empty room up.
Start with the room, not the Pinterest board
Walk the venue first. Note the ceiling height, the wall colour, where natural light falls in the evening and how guests will move between the bar and the dance floor. Those four things decide more than any colour palette.
Build in three layers
- Furniture: tables, chairs and one or two lounge zones
- Tableware: chargers, glassware, linens and napkins
- Atmosphere: candles, lanterns, festoon lights and florals
Order a little more than you need
Add two spare place settings per hundred guests and one extra lounge chair. Last-minute plus-ones happen at every wedding, and a stylist can slot spare pieces in within minutes.
