Acupuncture for relief that lasts

Acupuncture for relief that lasts

Fine needles, careful listening and a plan built around the way your body actually feels — not a script. Pain, sleep, stress and digestion, treated at the root.

Licensed practitioners · Single-use sterile needles · Every plan reviewed after four visits

Where to start

Four ways we bring the body back to balance

Most people arrive with one complaint and leave sleeping better too. These are the four core therapies we draw from, often combined inside a single hour.

About the clinic

Care that listens first, then treats

SWP Acupuncture began in a single back room with one treatment table and a waiting list built entirely on word of mouth. Fourteen years on, the approach hasn't changed: a long first conversation, a careful pulse and tongue reading, and a plan you actually understand.

We treat people who have usually tried a few other things already. That means we spend less time convincing you acupuncture works and more time finding the pattern underneath the symptom — why the headaches cluster before your period, why the back pain returns every winter, why sleep breaks at 3am and not midnight.

What we help with

The concerns people bring us most

01

Persistent pain

Lower back, neck, shoulders, sciatica, migraines and old injuries that flare without warning. We work the local tissue and the pattern feeding it.

02

Stress and sleep

Racing thoughts at night, shallow rest, waking at the same hour. Treatment settles the nervous system so sleep arrives on its own.

03

Digestive comfort

Bloating, irregularity, appetite that swings with mood. We look at timing and temperature as closely as we look at diet.

04

Cycles and fertility

Painful or irregular periods, perimenopause, and supportive care alongside IVF. Charted cycle by cycle, never guesswork.

05

Energy and recovery

Long-standing fatigue, post-viral flatness, and athletes who need to train again without breaking down each month.

Two thousand years of practice, one very quiet room

Watch a session from start to finish — the intake, the point selection, the twenty minutes of rest that most people say is the best sleep they've had all week.

Our treatments

Therapies offered at SWP Acupuncture

Each session is booked as a single appointment. What happens inside it depends on what your body presents with that day.

Body acupuncture

Our core treatment. Points selected across the limbs, back and torso to move blocked circulation and calm an overactive nervous system. 60 minutes.

Cupping & gua sha

Silicone or glass cups and a smooth-edged tool draw stagnant blood to the surface. Best for tight shoulders, stiff backs and heavy legs. Marks fade in days.

Moxibustion

Compressed mugwort warmed above specific points. Deeply comforting in cold weather and for injuries that have simply stopped improving.

Chinese herbal medicine

A tailored granule or decoction formula, reviewed every two to three weeks. Useful when symptoms need support on the days you aren't in the clinic.

Auricular acupuncture

Ear points and small retained seeds you keep for a few days. Widely used for cravings, anxiety and holding the effect of a session for longer.

Cosmetic facial acupuncture

Very fine needles across the face and scalp to lift circulation and soften tension lines. Run as a course of ten, spaced weekly.

Your first visit

What the first ninety minutes look like

Nobody should arrive nervous. Here is exactly what happens, in order, so there are no surprises on the table.

A proper conversation

Thirty minutes on your history, medication, sleep, appetite and stress — plus a pulse and tongue reading. We explain the pattern we find in plain language before anything is touched.

The treatment itself

Between eight and sixteen needles, thinner than a human hair. Most people feel a dull heaviness and nothing more. You rest for twenty minutes; many fall asleep.

A plan you keep

You leave with a written plan — how many sessions, how far apart, what to watch for, and what to do at home. We review it honestly at session four.

Common questions

Before you book

Does acupuncture hurt?
Our needles are roughly the width of two human hairs — around forty of them fit inside the hollow of a standard injection needle. Most people feel a brief tap, then a dull, spreading heaviness that fades within seconds. If a point stays sharp, tell us and we move it.
How many sessions will I need?
For a recent problem, often three to five. For something you have carried for years, we usually plan six to eight weekly sessions and review honestly at session four. If you are not noticing change by then, we say so and suggest another route.
Are the needles reused?
Never. Every needle is single-use, pre-sterilised and disposed of in a clinical sharps container in front of you. All practitioners hold current clean-needle certification.
Can I have acupuncture while on medication?
In almost all cases, yes — acupuncture sits alongside conventional treatment rather than replacing it. Bring a list of what you take. If you are on blood thinners or have a pacemaker, tell us at booking so we adjust technique.
How will I feel afterwards?
Usually relaxed and a little heavy-limbed for an hour or two. A small number of people feel briefly tired that evening and notably better the next morning. We ask you to skip hard training and alcohol for the rest of the day.
Do you offer herbal formulas without acupuncture?
Yes. Herbal-only consultations run for forty-five minutes and include a follow-up review after two weeks, though most patients find the two work considerably better together.
