Every treatment we offer

Therapies offered at SWP Acupuncture

Each session is booked as a single appointment. What happens inside it depends on what your body presents with that day.

Body acupuncture

Our core treatment. Points selected across the limbs, back and torso to move blocked circulation and calm an overactive nervous system. 60 minutes.

Cupping & gua sha

Silicone or glass cups and a smooth-edged tool draw stagnant blood to the surface. Best for tight shoulders, stiff backs and heavy legs. Marks fade in days.

Moxibustion

Compressed mugwort warmed above specific points. Deeply comforting in cold weather and for injuries that have simply stopped improving.

Chinese herbal medicine

A tailored granule or decoction formula, reviewed every two to three weeks. Useful when symptoms need support on the days you aren't in the clinic.

Auricular acupuncture

Ear points and small retained seeds you keep for a few days. Widely used for cravings, anxiety and holding the effect of a session for longer.

Cosmetic facial acupuncture

Very fine needles across the face and scalp to lift circulation and soften tension lines. Run as a course of ten, spaced weekly.

Where to start

Four ways we bring the body back to balance

Most people arrive with one complaint and leave sleeping better too. These are the four core therapies we draw from, often combined inside a single hour.

Common questions

Before you book

Does acupuncture hurt?
Our needles are roughly the width of two human hairs — around forty of them fit inside the hollow of a standard injection needle. Most people feel a brief tap, then a dull, spreading heaviness that fades within seconds. If a point stays sharp, tell us and we move it.
How many sessions will I need?
For a recent problem, often three to five. For something you have carried for years, we usually plan six to eight weekly sessions and review honestly at session four. If you are not noticing change by then, we say so and suggest another route.
Are the needles reused?
Never. Every needle is single-use, pre-sterilised and disposed of in a clinical sharps container in front of you. All practitioners hold current clean-needle certification.
Can I have acupuncture while on medication?
In almost all cases, yes — acupuncture sits alongside conventional treatment rather than replacing it. Bring a list of what you take. If you are on blood thinners or have a pacemaker, tell us at booking so we adjust technique.
How will I feel afterwards?
Usually relaxed and a little heavy-limbed for an hour or two. A small number of people feel briefly tired that evening and notably better the next morning. We ask you to skip hard training and alcohol for the rest of the day.
Do you offer herbal formulas without acupuncture?
Yes. Herbal-only consultations run for forty-five minutes and include a follow-up review after two weeks, though most patients find the two work considerably better together.

There is usually space this week

First appointments run ninety minutes and include the full consultation. Call us, or send a short note about what's going on and we'll tell you honestly whether acupuncture is the right fit.
