Most home studios sound worse than they need to because of the room, not the microphone. Hard parallel walls send your voice straight back into the capsule a few milliseconds later, and that smear is what makes a recording sound like a kitchen.
Start with soft things
A bookshelf, a sofa and a rug will do more than a new interface. Put the soft surfaces behind the microphone, not behind you.
Get closer
Halving the distance to the microphone gives the room a quarter of the energy it had. Work a hand’s width from a dynamic mic and most rooms stop being a problem.
