For campers who want the forest to themselves, the backcountry ridge sites are a 2.5 km hike from the trailhead. Pack light, walk in and earn the best sunrise in the park.
The site
Each pitch has a timber tent platform, a steel bear box for food and a pit toilet a short walk away. There are no fires on the ridge, so bring a camping stove.
Good to know
Check in with a ranger at the welcome cabin before you set off and collect a trail map. The hike takes about 45 minutes with a full pack.
