Witnesses
Local rules on who may witness a will, and where they must be standing when they do, are stricter than most templates explain. A witness who is also a beneficiary can lose their gift entirely.
Guardianship
If you have children under eighteen, the guardianship clause is the most important paragraph in the document. Templates frequently omit a substitute guardian.
Jointly held property
Property held as joint tenants passes outside the will regardless of what the will says. Clients are often surprised by this, and it is easy to fix once it is spotted.
