Civil litigation

Practice area

Civil litigation

Civil litigation is where most disputes between businesses, neighbours and contracting parties end up when correspondence has run out. We act for claimants and defendants in contract claims, debt recovery, property and boundary disputes, professional negligence and urgent injunction work.

How we approach a claim

We start with an honest merits assessment: what you can prove, what it will cost to prove it, and what a realistic settlement looks like. Roughly two in three matters we open are resolved before a full hearing, because the other side receives a file that is clearly better prepared than they expected.

What it costs

Litigation is billed in stages — pre-action, pleadings, disclosure, hearing — and you approve each stage before it starts. You will never receive an invoice for work you did not authorise.
