We travel overland wherever a train exists, sleep in locally owned lodging by default, and carry no single-use plastics on route. Guides are salaried rather than tipped into a living, and every group departure is capped at twelve travellers so the places we visit are not overwhelmed by our arriving.
What we measure
- Share of each itinerary travelled overland rather than by air.
- Proportion of lodging owned within the region it sits in.
- Guide pay against the local median, published annually.
