The right racquet makes learning easier and protects your arm. Before you buy, try a few from our loan rack during a lesson. Here is what to look for.

Head size

A larger head (100–110 sq in) gives a bigger sweet spot and more power. Perfect for beginners and improvers.

Weight

Most adults start between 260 g and 290 g. Lighter racquets are easier to swing; heavier ones are more stable.

Grip size

You should be able to fit the index finger of your other hand between your fingertips and palm when holding the grip. When in doubt, choose smaller and add an overgrip.
