Red, amber and green mean three very different things, and the date in the corner matters more than the colour. A green tag with last month’s date on it is not a green tag.
What the colours actually mean
Green means the structure has been inspected and is safe to use for the load class written on the tag. Amber means it is incomplete or altered and may only be used under specific conditions, usually by the scaffolders themselves. Red means do not climb, no exceptions, no quick jobs.
The date is the real information
Inspections run on a seven-day cycle, and after any alteration or high wind event. If the date on the tag is older than seven days, the tag has expired regardless of its colour. Take a photo, send it to the scaffold contractor, and stay off it until someone has been back out.
