[ Fresh-picked • Certified Organic • Springfield, IL ]
We grow over sixty varieties of certified organic vegetables on 40 acres just outside Springfield — harvested at dawn and on your table, your shelf or your menu within a day.
Stocked by local grocers & kitchens
SWP Organic Farm began in 2014 with three acres of tired corn ground and one stubborn idea: if we fed the soil, the soil would feed our neighbours. Twelve seasons of cover crops, compost and patience later, that same ground grows some of the most flavourful vegetables in central Illinois.
We are a family-run team of eleven growers, packers and drivers. We never spray synthetic pesticides or herbicides, and every field is rotated so no crop grows in the same bed two years in a row. That keeps pests guessing and the soil full of life.
What we harvest in the morning is washed, packed and on its way by noon — to families who subscribe to our weekly boxes, to grocers along Route 66 and to the chefs who build their menus around what's ripe this week.
Our planting calendar follows the Illinois seasons, so what you get is always at its natural peak — never forced, never shipped across the country.

Butterhead and romaine lettuce, rainbow chard, lacinato kale and spinach, cut early while the leaves are crisp and sweet.

Nantes carrots, golden beets, radishes and string beans grown in loose, compost-rich beds for clean, deep flavour.

Fourteen heirloom tomato varieties, sweet bell peppers and mild chiles, picked vine-ripe rather than gassed in storage.

Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and Brussels sprouts timed for the cool shoulder seasons, when they taste their best.
Organic is where we start, not where we stop. These four habits shape every field on the farm.
Winter cover crops of rye and clover, plus 300 tons of on-farm compost a year, keep our soil dark, crumbly and alive.
Drip lines fed by a rain-catch pond use roughly half the water of overhead sprinklers.
Flower strips between beds draw in ladybugs and lacewings, so we never reach for a synthetic spray.
Everything we sell travels less than 150 miles, in reusable crates collected on the next delivery.
Here's what happens to a single head of lettuce between our greenhouse and your kitchen.
Seeds are started in our solar-heated greenhouse using organic potting mix we blend ourselves.
Seedlings move to the field after three weeks and are weeded by hand and tractor, never by herbicide.
We pick between 5 and 9am, while plants are cool, then rinse and chill everything within the hour.
Boxes are packed by noon and delivered the same afternoon to homes, stores and restaurants.
