A welcome from our principal

We teach children, not just subjects

“Walk our halls on any morning and you'll hear it: kids asking questions, teachers asking them back. That curiosity is what we protect here.”

SWPSchool opened in 2001 with 60 students and one big idea: that a child learns best when someone truly knows them. Today we're 1,200 students strong, and that idea still shapes everything from class sizes to how we write report cards.

CuriosityQuestions are welcome in every lesson.

A day at SWPSchool

What a Tuesday looks like in Grade 4

Parents often ask what their child will actually do all day. Here's a typical schedule, with a good balance of focus, movement and play.

Shadow a Class for a Day
  1. Drop-off & breakfast club

Buses arrive and early birds grab a warm breakfast in the dining hall.

  2. Morning circle

Students share news, review the day's plan and set one small goal.

  3. Literacy block

Guided reading groups, spelling and writing time with their teacher.

  4. Recess

Outdoor play on the field or climbing frames, supervised by staff.

  5. Maths & science

Hands-on problems, then a lab session on plants and growth.

  6. Lunch

A balanced hot lunch or packed meal, followed by free play.

  7. Specials

Music, art, PE or Spanish, rotating through the week.

  8. Clubs & pick-up

Chess, robotics, choir or soccer until 4:30, or straight home.
