Opening a pool well takes a little planning but not a lot of time. With the right order of steps, you can go from covered to crystal clear in a single weekend.
Day one: uncover and start up
- Pump standing water off the cover before removing it
- Clean, dry and store the cover
- Reconnect equipment and remove winter plugs
- Top up the water to mid-skimmer
- Prime the pump and check for leaks
Day two: clean and balance
Brush and vacuum, then test the water. Expect alkalinity and pH to need adjusting after winter. Shock in the evening so the sun does not burn off the chlorine.
Run the filter around the clock for the first 48 hours and clean it once the pressure rises. By the end of the weekend you should have clear, balanced water.
