The plot fell almost a metre from the house to the boundary, which made the lawn unusable for anything but standing on. We terraced it into two levels, with a paved dining area at the top and a mown lawn below.
Three borders wrap the level ground. After two wet winters the re-graded falls and new soakaway have not backed up once.
