Supporter-owned since 1968 and still rooted in the south of Springfield.
SWP Football Club began in 1968 as a Sunday side formed by factory workers from the south of the city. Six promotions later, we play in the Premier Division in front of one of the loudest home crowds in the country.
We are still supporter-owned. Every season ticket, shirt and matchday pie goes back into the first team, the academy and the community programmes that keep this club rooted in its neighbourhood.
Factory workers from south Springfield form a team and play their first match on Maplewood common.
A 2–0 final win brings the club its first senior trophy and 6,000 fans to the parade.
A final-day win at Lakeshore seals top-flight football for the first time.
84 points and 19 home wins deliver our third league title.
