We chose each location for a question rather than a view: what does an elephant herd do when the pans fail for the third year running, and what does a puma do when there is nowhere left to hide a kill?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nothing in this series is staged, baited, or re-cut from library footage. Where we could not film a behaviour honestly, we left it out and said so in the episode notes \u2014 which are published in full alongside every film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How the season was made<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>Nine field trips, the longest running 71 consecutive days without resupply.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Approach distances set by the resident biologist on every shoot, not by the director.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Twenty-two of thirty-one field roles filled by people living inside the areas we filmed.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Every ambience in the mix is location sound \u2014 there is no library track anywhere in it.<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A season built around problems, not scenery Four crews spent thirty-one months in the field to make four hours of television.
