A little preparation in October prevents most of it.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our winter checklist<\/h2>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Test the battery: cold weather cuts its power by up to a third.<\/li><li>Check tread depth: we recommend at least 4 mm for winter.<\/li><li>Top up coolant with the right antifreeze mix.<\/li><li>Replace worn wiper blades and fill the washer bottle with winter screen wash.<\/li><li>Check every bulb, because the days are short.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Keep a winter kit in the trunk<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An ice scraper, a blanket, a phone charger, jump leads and a small shovel take up very little space and can turn a long wait into a minor delay.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our free Winter Safety Check covers all of the above in about 20 minutes.
